Here are some of the Web and internet projects I have worked on. --Will Fitzgerald

Vector Data Services front page!

VDS450.com
Vector Data Services, Inc. adapts quantitative research methods and technologies for online assessment. I created the Java/JSP/SQL version of this site, and later managed the site, overseeing its graphical design, as well as the backend of the site, which allows creation and deployment of web-based assessments.

Kidtest.com
Kidtest.com is "an online testing and learning site for students and their families." I developed the original PHP/SQL site, and later managed the site's development by others.

Ask a NASA Expert

Ask a NASA Expert
BioBLAST is an classroom computer and web-based educational tool to teach children about advanced life support research at NASA. I built the Ask a NASA Expert, an interactive web site that allows students to ask questions, get answers (if available), and create an underlying workflow to get new questions and answers into the system. I did all of the non-graphics website development, and oversaw the indexing of some 400 questions.

FleetXChange.com
FleetXChange.com is "online community focused on serving the needs of trucking professionals at small- to medium-sized fleets." A key component of FleetXChange.com is its knowledge-bank of expert answers to questions. I built the underlying technology to match questions to answers. I also helped design many other components of FleetXChange.com (but I take no responsibility for its visual design).

Talking to the Echo Monitor over IM

I/NET's Echo Monitor
The Echo system is a voice-enabled system and network monitor. Echo monitors systems, notifies people when significant events occur, and can even fix broken systems on-line. Echo has been built to be very easy to use, yet very capable. You can interact with Echo over the phone, on the web, or even via email and instant messages. Here is a typical IM conversation.

I was the main lead on the "conversational interface" that allows this natural language interaction with Echo.

I/NET, Inc.
I was the Chief Technology Officer of I/NET, Inc., and in this role I produced the I/NET website.

Autolog

Autolog
This is my entry in the 2002 5k contest. It's a little design, a little javascript, and a little data which automagically generates a jorn-style weblog.

WMD Weblog
A topic-based weblog, tracking the search for weapons of mass destruction in post-war Iraq, and its political ramifications.

Will.Whim Journal
I've kept a weblog since January, 2000. I think weblogs form an important genre for informal, spontaneous, or "journalistic" writing. I named my weblog "Will.Whim" because I wanted a place to write about things that matter to me (the net, politics, programming, teaching) as well as noting whimsical things (nonce poems, chapbook entries, even a strange dream or two).

AERCam Controller Simulation
The AERCam Controller Simulation is a testbed for the task execution, control, conceptual memory and dialogue. This image is of the controller, the 'communication interface' and the camera view: on the controller, you can see a panel of switches and "thermometers", and a trace of the conversation; the communication interface allows natural language interaction; the camera view is a 3-D view from the AERCam camera (a free-flying remote-controlled camera).
